Abstract

GUBER, Rosana. Leopoldo: inicios y formación de un creador de instituciones Los comienzos en los confines: la no-opción por la Antropología social de Leopoldo J. Bartolomé y Carlos A. Herrán. Avá [online]. 2014, n.25, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

Much of the Argentinian historical literature identifies social anthropology with a discipline oriented towards social commitment, the study of modernity and the problems of the contemporary world. Their own crafters assisted in producing that literature: anthropologists that were part of and contributed in historizing the subdiscipline. Nonetheless, there are few works that question these premises. The review of Leopoldo Bartolomé’s and Carlos Herrán’s training and professional trajectories helps us to exhibit some yet unknown aspects of our discipline, and to point out how the “social anthropology” was put together with other pre-existing branches through their subjects, their crafters and their empirical fields. It also helps us to play down the significance of denominations and to pay more attention to the questions and the perspective of researches.

Keywords : Social Anthropology; Leopoldo Bartolomé; Carlos Herrán; Professional Trajectories.
