Abstract
OLIVEIRA DE ALMEIDA, Leonardo. Avá [online]. 2015, n.27, pp.63-80. ISSN 1851-1694.
This paper aims to present an anthropological study of the circulation of pen drives among ogas, people who play drums, in an Afro-Brazilian religion house (Umbanda) located in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil. From a perspective that takes religion as mediation, I seek to understand how the audios (religious music) recorded by me during the Umbanda rituals, materialized and made circulate through pen drives, have been appropriated by some of my interlocutors. For the religious group concerned, the ponto, the songs of the deities, is a means of communication. Therefore, it is necessary to "play well", knowing the musical language of gods; "sing well" intone the pontos with their respective lyrics and voicing; among others. There is, therefore, not only circulation and exhibition of pontos, but also performances of mediation. In this context, I will present how the use of new media reconfigures the religious mediation practice.
