Abstract

BERMUDEZ, Natalia. Entre la escasez y los excesos: muerte, parentesco y política en sectores populares. Avá [online]. 2017, n.30, pp.61-79. ISSN 1851-1694.

In much of the academic literature, demonstration and commemoration practices in the face of violent death have been overshadowed by legal activism and the privilege granted to circumscribed politics in certain more formal areas of organization. In this text, I propose to restore the experience of the popular sectors around the deaths of young people in contexts of violence, based on the ethnographic analysis of the obligations of kinship and the moral evaluations that are made of them. I suggest that such experiences shape the political practices that family members develop by restricting or expanding the forms of participation they hold in specialized organizations; and also the way in which it becomes -or not- in “family activist”.

Keywords : Death; Violence; Politic; Popular sectors.
