The purpose of this article is to show how death configures a particular profession: the police. The analysis consists in reviewing processes by which police officers learn that death is an intrinsic possibility of their job: the performance of daily and extraordinary rituals, honoring the fellow police officers who lost their lives on duty and the deification of some of them. This paper is the result of the combination of two ethnographies carried out in the training schools of the Argentine Federal Police, between 2011 and 2016.
