The article presents an anthropological analysis of the fishing and recollection of crabs practiced by the members of a neuro-scientific lab in Buenos Aires. This group of scientists are in charge of collecting and carrying the animals of their researches, which are not conventional in their field of study, to the laboratory. Based on two trips and the notebooks where the experiences of fishing crabs are presented, it is described the scientists’ knowledge about the environment where crustaceans live, and the practices and ceremonies ritualized of this group with the animals that are not written down in the published papers. These knowledge and rituals show that the fishing of crabs is very important in the constitution of community of this group. A scientific community that unifies and celebrates itself outside the academic world, in a handmade and practical activity.
