Abstract

FAULHABER, Priscila  and  D’OLNE CAMPOS, Marcio. IDENTIFICANDO CORPOS CELESTES DO PONTO DE VISTA DA ICONOGRAFIA TIKUNA. Avá [online]. 2019, n.35, pp.129-153. ISSN 1851-1694.

This paper is a contribution to anthropology of sky-earth relations considering the Tikuna interpretation of the iconography of ritual artifacts. This interpretation concerns their understanding about celestial phenomena significant to the female puberty ritual. It is established a comparison between the present ethnographic observations and the ethnographic information of the German ethnographer Curt (Unkel) Nimuendajú. Even though considering the limitations of comparative approach between Western scientific explanations and the Tikuna knowledge, here their complementarity is considered.

Keywords : Sky-earth relations; Iconography of ritual crafts; Tikuna knowledge.
