Abstract

RE, Valeria. CONFLICTO Y VALORACIÓN SOCIAL EN LA TRAMA DE UNA PEQUEÑA CIUDAD. Avá [online]. 2020, n.36, pp.289-313. ISSN 1851-1694.

This article follows a controversy raised during the Bicentennial celebrations in Curuzú Cuatiá (Corrientes) to explore the tensions in the production of valuation and recognition of local musicians in a small city. The analysis derives from ethnographic data, monitoring virtual forums and local media, and in-depth interviews -between 2008-2013-. I identify a series of relationships that articulated social and symbolic dynamics displaying a sense of locality, one that became the limit of what could be valued. My findings show how the local social space’s specificities configured a dynamic in which conflict was a strategy that articulated forms of sociability and honor in the small city.

Keywords : Small city; Conflict; Honor; Valuation.
