The following article investigates the moral and political socialization practices in a traditional British school for upper classes in the city of Buenos Aires. Results derive from fieldwork carried out between 2016 and 2018, and they focus on the organization of a TED event in the school. The article traces the meanings and implications for students’ training that the management and teaching team who coordinated the affair elaborated. This essay highlights that the use of sociolinguistic competences and leadership dispositions are of great significance for students’ participation in the TED event. The article concludes that these practices and meanings are related to different moral and political socialization processes in the upper classes.
