This article will take the case of Brazil and, based on a long-term ethnographic engagement with homeless population and following-up a collective of activism between March 2020 and March 2021 carried out through a WhatsApp group, it will aim to analyze the social mobilizations in relation to the protection of the street population carried out in the city of Porto Alegre/RS. We will point out how this network took place through diversified modes of action, simultaneously demanding rights and promoting practices associated with charity and philanthropy. Working from its constitutive ambiguity, we will draw attention to the fact that, in this context, the pandemic seems to function both as an event that accentuates humanitarian dynamics, and acts to renew daily activisms, which denounce the unequal structures of existence of this population and state violence against the homeless population.
