Abstract

FORNILLO, Bruno  and  GAMBA, Martina. Industria, ciencia y política en el Triángulo del Litio. Cienc. docencia tecnol. [online]. 2019, n.58, pp.1-38. ISSN 1851-1716.

Lithium batteries are in the center of a new energy paradigm. Lithium batteries are a reservoir of electricity for renewable generation, give mobility to the electrical devices and give power to the vehicles. The South American plateau contains the largest lithium resources in the world, but it is still uncertain if the transit to the batteries can be made. We analyze, therefore, the historical and current interrelationship between the science, politics and industry of the batteries in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, to know if these countries are in the face of the challenge of producing locally energy accumulators. The work is based on primary, secondary sources and in depth interviews that we have made in the three countries mentioned during 2017 and 2018.

Keywords : Science; Technology; Lithium; Industry; South America.
