This work synthesizes the thesis presented to approve the Master's Degree in Family and Community Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences - uner. It describes and analyzes the beliefs that parents have in the growth process in children between 1 to 5 years old, who also live in poverty at Concepción del Uruguay. The ages and origin, the gender difference, their level of education and the family socioeconomic situation were contemplated. It is a qualitative research based on surveys, in-depth interviews, and unstructured observation. The interrelation between beliefs and practices were the main subject of analysis, based on the concept of social representations, the gender approach, complex thinking, the Extended Model of Care and the Ecological Model; focused in the field of Family and Community Health.
