Abstract

CARDIGNI, Julieta. A possible case of variant of author in Ovid's Metamorphoses 1.544-547. Circe clás. mod. [online]. 2004, n.9, pp.87-99. ISSN 1851-1724.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze a fragment form Ovid's Metamorphoses (1.544-47) on the basis that it is possible to identify in that work a variant of author. We understand 'variant of author' as the corrections that the author introduces on his text before or after its diffusion and publication. They constitute an important element in the study of the textual genesis, as Lois (2001) states when presenting the bases of textual genetics. In the present case, the writings of the very same Ovid authorize this kind of look over his opera.

Keywords : Ovid; Textual genesis; Variants; Ideology; Poetics.
