In Sophist, Plato reaches both the most refined definition and the most strict criticism of the portrait of the sophist simultaneously. He is depicted here as a pseudourgós. Using the eídola legómena as a means, sophists aim at showing the ability of inventing everything so as to cheat disoriented young people. Up to here the platonic way of thinking, but what other meaning can be thought about this label of 'false worker'? Taking into account the concept of language characteristic of sophistic, it is possible to understand that term as an indication of the statute itself, not only of the performance but also of the pólis, which is done by and for their words.
