AMES, Cecilia. The Apology and the Dialog in the first Latin apologists: Tertullian and Minucius Felix. Circe clás. mod. [online]. 2008, n.12, pp.45-60. ISSN 1851-1724.

The paper analyzes the literary genre and classic authors used by the first Latin apologists Tertullian and Minucius Felix to deepen the question of the classic Latin reception for the construction, consolidation and diffusion of Christianity. This look tries to understand the choice of literary genre and the use and appropriation of argumentations and elements of classical authors like moments of a practice and, therefore, of a process, which become understandable and explainable as a strategy, having in account the place from where they are produced. Understood as a strategy, the literary genre is linked to the construction of the power to set itself up as speaker authorized. From this perspective we will approach the reception and use of Latin authors.

Palavras-chave : Genres; Christian speech; Apologists; Early Christianity; Classical culture.
