Abstract

LAMBOGLIA, Rodolfo G.. Reflections on War and Social Conflicts in the Beginnings of the Roman Republic in Titus Livius' First Books. Circe clás. mod. [online]. 2008, n.12, pp.265-281. ISSN 1851-1724.

This article tries to demonstrate that, during the period which extends approximately from c. 500 to 450 BC, some of the repeated wars initiated by the Romans against different neighbouring villages were propitiated and used by the aristocracy as a way of restraining internal conflicts generated by plebeians' demands.

Keywords : War; Army; Aristocracy; Peasants; Conflicts.
