Abstract

VARGAS DA CRUZ, Marcio José  and  CURADO, Marcelo Luiz. Tourism on Brazil’s Balance-of-Payment after the Real Plan. Estud. perspect. tur. [online]. 2005, vol.14, n.2, pp.142-162. ISSN 1851-1732.

Nowadays the activities from tourism are representative in the main world economies. The capital flow originated from international tourism is accounted in the Balance-of-Payments, at the International Travel account, included in the Balance-of-Services. In Brazil, this account has been presented deficits during all over stabilization period (Real Plan), characterized by an active exchange rate policy, which induced a negative pressure over the Current Account Balance. This paper presents the performance of the International Travel account in Brazil, during the Real Plan, aiming to find how the exchange rate impacts its performance.

Keywords : Tourism; Balanced-of-Payments; Exchange rate.
