PEREZ-RAMIREZ, Carlos; ZIZUMBO-VILLARREAL, Lilia  and  MONTERROSO-SALVATIERRA, Neptalí. Tourism and Resistance Identity: Local Opposition facing Tourist Projects in Nevado de Toluca National Park, México. Estud. perspect. tur. [online]. 2009, vol.18, n.1, pp.36-52. ISSN 1851-1732.

The aim of this paper is to contribute to the theoretical discussion related to rural communities' participation in tourism development. This research was based on the methodological proporsal of Manuel Castells (2003), who stablished three kind of social identities and experiences remarking the resistance perspective as the one that produce mechanisms of social organization for defense and common interests.
