Abstract

DA CRUZ, Gustavo. Climate change and tourism: possible consequences on Bahia's, Brazil, main tourist attractions. Estud. perspect. tur. [online]. 2009, vol.18, n.4, pp.476-489. ISSN 1851-1732.

Global warming is changing the climate on every continent. Masses of ice are melting increasing the average level of the sea, threatening oceanic islands and coastal areas. Hurricanes and cyclones are more intense and frequent; the minimum temperatures are higher than normal, as well as droughts and floods are stronger in several tourist destinations. In this context, this article intended to analyze the main projections of climate change and the consequences for the destinations in Bahia. The methodology was based on reports and articles developed by major scientific organizations worldwide, which provided subsidies to develop certain implications for the Bahia destinations. Identifying the vulnerability of destinations front of a climate change scenario future, will help to development strategies for mitigation and scientific research in the area in the next years.
