The recent development process of the urban space in the central-northern coast of Santa Catarina, Brazil, is being determined by two main development logics: an industry/ harbor oriented logic and a tourist/ leisure oriented logic. Thus, the main goal of this research embraces, through the territorial tourist system approach, the usage forms of the leisure intended places and equipments at the central urban areas of the Itajaí - Balneário Camboriú agglomerate for resident population as for visitants. This study analyzes the organization of the spaces at the central areas of the urban agglomerate of Itajaí and Balneário Camboriú, its practice (public or private) and appropriation by residents as by visitors.
