The aim of this research was to build an analytical scenario based on the appraisals and expectations of tourism by the inhabitants of the city of Ilhéus-BA The collected data showed that Ilhéus' population expects the growing of tourism and that its benefits are distributed. However, this community is neither prepared to deal with the resulting effects of the activity, nor wishes to have significant changes of their ordinary life. Due to the lack of maturity of the local tourism, the managers still face a scenario with few problems to be solved.
