This article analyzes the Brazilian experience regarding tourism regionalization. Its aim is to identify the institutional structure, its main collective actors and its functions during the period under study. The discussion on the relations between public policies on tourism regionalization and institutional planning made it possible to examine the possible creation and implementation of tourist development policies in the said territory.
