Abstract

The development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) has substantially transformed the tourism industry. Besides, the international scientific literature on the subject was started more than 30 years. In Brazil, studies on the subject are more recent but have already established a theoretical framework. Thus, this article aimed to analyze the literature on ICTs in tourism in Brazil with the highest impact journals, according to criteria of Qualis classification, Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior-CAPES). It is a bibliometric study, descriptive and exploratory. 56 articles published in journals classified as B1, B2, and B3 on the impacts of ICTs on tourism were examined. From the quantitative and qualitative analyzes of the data, articles were classified into five thematic categories: Adoption of ICTs by the Tourist Trade; e-Marketing and e-Commerce; Tourist Informational; Geotechnology; and Teaching and Learning. It is considered that the Brazilian production of ICTs in tourism is significant and growing; authors and institutions with numerous publications have been identified as well as the practice of co-authored with international researchers.
