Estudios y Perspectivas en Turismo. Scientific and Editorial Quality, Thematic and Bibliométrico Indicators. The prevailing inequality among international publications of the "North" and open access journals of the "South" have made a great difference in the quality of academic journals. This paper presents case study of Estudios y Perspectivas en Turismo aiming to analyze its quality as a scientific journal focusing on tourism in Latin America in order to identify its influence and position. It takes the framework of Rozemblum et al. (2015 ), in which the quality of a journal is expressed in its scientific content and editorial quality, so that through a descriptive, documentary and quantitative research the subject followed in different years, the indexing obtained and bibliométrico indicators of articles, authorship, citation and impact factor are examined. It is concluded that on one hand the jounal has marked a thematic trend in Latin American in relation to space and environmental studies and has opened to innovative themes; on the other hand the Qualis and SciELO indexing and the policy of open access online, produced its current position and influence without compromising its independence from any scientific or higher education institution.
