Abstract

The objective of this research was to verify the cultural heritage management processes of Transboundary Properties in the case of the Barão de Mauá International Bridge, cultural heritage of Brazil (2012), Uruguay (1977) and MERCOSUR (2015). The research was positivist and it analyzed: 1) MERCOSUR's international cooperation norms, and the national laws of Brazil and Uruguay on that Bridge; 2) the bilateral agreements between Brazil and Uruguay that refer to the Bridge; 3) the policies of the institutions of the cultural heritage of Brazil and Uruguay and; 4) the Heritage Management Plan proposed for the Bridge by Mercosur. The result was an description of the cultural heritage management policies adopted by Mercosur, Brazil and Uruguay on the Barão de Mauá Bridge, based on a large amount of documentation, showing strategies for border cultural heritage’s management in MERCOSUR.
