Abstract

Territorial Expression of Tourist Resilience Due Occurrence Hydrometeorological Events in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Estud. perspect. tur. [online]. 2019, vol.28, n.2, pp.486-506. ISSN 1851-1732.

This objective reveals the tourist resilience through the territorial methodology implemented in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, a representative coastal area located in northwestern Mexico, where there was a violent impact of Hurricane "Odile", in an area where this kind hydrometeorological phenomena are frequent. First, the main theoretical frameworks on resilience are exposed in the context of risk and threat management. Later, using the probabilistic typification, physical, economic, human and social capital is analyzed to identify different levels of resilience in the geostatistical basic area that conform the study zone. Finally, the article focuses on the territorial expression of this process, according to the collective data obtained with intensive field work that includes tours and interviews with the local population, tourists, service providers and authorities, also the support of documentary, statistical and cartographic sources.
