Abstract

FLORES HUELVES, Marta  and  MONTES VOZMEDIANO, Manuel. Creating visual culture through cinema posters: Analysis the posters of film series. Inf. cult. soc. [online]. 2017, n.37, pp.127-144. ISSN 1514-8327.

This research studies the visual communication of the posters of the film series, a message that lasts in time and constitutes part of the visual culture of several generations. It initially defines a universe of 95 series released in the last half century, particularly between 1960 and 2016. This number is limited to 19 because the requirement is that the series must have at least 6 posters that can be studied. Through content analysis methodology and the use of manifest variables it is concluded that the series used similar color ranges and scenarios, which highlights the star system. The characters stand out because they are located in the foreground , at the top of the poster in a large size. It is also observed the use of a singular typography that becomes an iconic brand and is configured as an identity element of the series, which in some cases, as a reference of the visual culture that transcends the margins of the poster.
