Abstract

NOVOA, Martín David; LUQUE, María Elisa; LOMBARDO, Daniela  and  MARTINEZ DE FABRICIUS, Ana L.. Phycological study of artificial urban reservoirs of the South of the province of Córdoba. Bol. Soc. Argent. Bot. [online]. 2006, vol.41, n.3-4, pp.203-231. ISSN 1851-2372.

The present work was carried out in two urban lakes in Río Cuarto (Córdoba, Argentina): Parque Sarmiento and Villa Dalcar, during the year 2003. The objective was to know and to compare the algal composition and its relation with environmental parameters and bacteriological registries in both lakes. 275 taxa were determined: 178 Bacillariophyceae , 60 Chlorophyceae , 21 Cyanophyceae , 13 Euglenophyceae , 2 Dinophyceae and 1 Chrysophyceae. The species and/or varieties are registred for the irst time in the study area, 53 are new cites for the province of Cordoba and 8 for Argentina. The lake with the greatest number of species was Villa Dalcar. Parque Sarmiento Park registered a great number of own Chlorophyceae of this lake during fall. Two flowering processes were demonstrated in the Villa Dalcar Lake: Aphanizomenon flos-aquae in summer and Peridinium pusillum in spring. The Jaccard index showed the greatest similarity between the sites Este and Centro in autumn for the lake in Parque Sarmiento, and Salida and Malón in summer for the Villa Dalcar lake. According to the Sorensen-Dice index applied to both lakes and year seasons, the greatest similarity was shown in winter between the sites Salida of Villa Dalcar and Este of Parque Sarmiento. An elevated number of coliform bacteria in the site Puente Oeste was obtained in spring and summer in the lake of Parque Sarmiento, as well as in the site el Malón of the Villa Dalcar lake in summer.
