Abstract
VEGA, Álvaro José and DEMATTEIS, Massimiliano. New combinations and typifies in the genus Vernonanthura (Vernonieae, Asteraceae). Bol. Soc. Argent. Bot. [online]. 2011, vol.46, n.3-4, pp.369-374. ISSN 1851-2372.
The genus Vernonanthura H. Rob. (Vernonieae, Asteraceae) was established to separate taxa initially placed in Vernonia Schreb. sect. Lepidaploa (Cass.) DC. subsect. Paniculatae Benth. & Hook. As presently delimited, Vernonanthura is comprised of about 70 species widely distributed in South America, with a concentration in southeastern Brazil. Since the description of Vernonanthura, there have been few problems in its generic limits. However, several species still included in Vernonia have not been examined and consequently their taxonomic position remains uncertain. In this paper, three taxa previously placed in Vernonia are transferred to Vernonanthura based on morphology and typifications are provided for three names.
