Livedo is not a specific disease, but a distinctive clinicopathologic pattern of changes, that may occur in a variety of different circunstances. The main pathogenic mechanism is considered to be intraluminal thrombosis of dermal vessels, with a common pathway and a prothrombotic state. A glossary, clinical, histological and therapeutic aspects are reviewed.
