Abstract

FASSI, MV et al. Cellulite as unique expression of Chagas skin reactivation in a kidney transplant patient. Rev. argent. dermatol. [online]. 2014, vol.95, n.2, pp.21-24. ISSN 1851-300X.

Trypanosome cruzi infection in the immunosuppressed host represents acute infection. Immunosuppression in these patients infected can result in worsening of the disease, presenting as an acute and severe atypical case. Reactivated infection in transplant recipients causes increased parasitemia, myocarditis and or skin lesions; management relies on standard courses of antitrypanosomal therapy. Herewith a patient with chronic Chagas disease worsened by kidney transplant is reported.

Keywords : Chagas disease; Immunosuppression; Kidney transplant.
