CHAVANNE, Ernesto R.; OSTENGO, Santiago; GARCIA, María B.  e  CUENYA, María I.. Assessment of sugarcane cultivars (Saccharum spp.) productive behaviour through different environments in Tucumán by means of "GGE biplot" technique. Rev. ind. agríc. Tucumán [online]. 2007, vol.84, n.2, pp.19-24. ISSN 1851-3018.

"GGE biplot" technique was used in this work to analyze the effects of genotype and genotype-environment interaction on sugarcane yield per ha during May, considering two sugarcane genotype groups evaluated from 2002 to 2006 on six different sites in the sugarcane growing area in Tucumán. The trials were conducted using a randomized complete block design with three replications. Data concerning sugar yield during May were analyzed. The "GGE biplot" technique allowed identifying genotypes with higher sugar yield per ha in May and their relative stability through environments. The outstanding genotypes were identified as those that showed higher PC1 values and PC2 values close to zero. This method also allowed detecting the adaptability of genotypes to specific enviroments. The "GGE biplot" analysis accounted for 58% and 64% of the combined effects of genotype and genoype-environment interaction in groups 1 and 2, respectively. The simplicity of the "GGE biplot" display for identifying outstanding sugarcane genotypes evaluated through different environments is remarkable.
