SANCHEZ, José R. et al. Analysis of the behaviour of soybean commercial varieties in northwestern Argentina. Rev. ind. agric. Tucumán [online]. 2009, vol.86, n.2, pp.17-22. ISSN 1851-3018.

In order to achieve soybean (Glycine max L.) maximum reachable yield levels in northwestern Argentina, it is crucial to use the most advanced technology. Genetics plays a fundamental role, so it is highly important to study the behaviour of different soybean varieties available in the region. Six-season data from "Red de Evaluación de Variedades Comerciales de Soja del Noroeste Argentino" (Commercial Soybean Cultivars Evaluation Network in Northwestern Argentina) were used to determine the impact of different environments on yield level in each variety. The behaviour of the varieties was first assessed in terms of their average yields in environments previously labelled as favourable and unfavourable. A 6401 RG, A 8100 RG and Munasqa RR varieties, among others, usually showed yields above-average only in unfavourable environments, whereas A 7636 RG had a higher yield than average only in favourable environments. A 8000 RG, AW 7110 RR and DM 6200 RR varieties, among others, showed yield levels above average in both types of environment, while varieties such as A 4910 RG and NA 7708 RG showed yields below average. Varieties were also classified according to their adaptability to different environments. A 4910 RG, Munasqa RR, A 8100 RG and A 6401 RG varieties were labelled as stable, with yields above average in unfavourable environments. On the other hand, A 7636 RG and A 8000 RG varieties were classified as adaptable, with the former being worth highlighting, because its yield was either acceptable or good in all the environments considered.
