Abstract

GUTIERREZ, Cynthia et al. Total chlorine content in sugar cane agricultural crop residues (ACR) in Tucumán. Rev. ind. agric. Tucumán [online]. 2016, vol.93, n.2, pp.19-25. ISSN 1851-3018.

The total chlorine content of biomass is essential in the analysis of corrosion which can cause combustion inside a steam generator. In order to study the energy use of agricultural crop residues in sugar cane (ACR) of Tucuman, has characterized it for the variety LCP85-384, following the methodology outlined in ASTM E 776-87 modified. 61 samples from different cane fields in Tucumán were analyzed. It was determined that the total chlorine content (% Cl) varies in a range between 0.07% and 0.63%, with an average of 0.23% and a residual standard deviation (RDS %) of 54.85%. To measure the accuracy of the method chloride percent recovery was studied. It was determined that the percent recovery (% R) are in a range of 86.04% to 114.10%, with an average value of 99.80% and RDS% of 8.02.
