Resumen

FANDOS, Carmina et al. Multi-temporal study (2006-2020) of the sugarcane and grain production system for the analysis of crop diversity in Tucumán province, R. Argentina. Rev. ind. agric. Tucumán [online]. 2021, vol.98, n.2, pp.29-35. ISSN 1851-3018.

The diversity of species favors the sustainability of productive systems, so the knowledge of crop rotations is fundamental when analyzing agro-ecosystems. The production system of extensive crops in Tucumán is mainly integrated by sugarcane and grain crops. Among summer grains, soybean is the crop with the largest planted area, followed by corn crops. Rotation with soybean is carried out in the sugarcane crop with the main purpose of decreasing weed infestation, on the other hand, the corn crop contributes to the sustainability of the grain systems. The multitemporal analysis in remote sensing is a chronological process of digital analysis of two or more images that, when contrasted, allows identifying changes in the use of soils. Change detection techniques can be grouped into two groups, depending on whether they use continuous or categorized images. The aim was to analyze the spatial evolution of grain and sugarcane crops in Tucumán, in the period 2006-2020, for the analysis of diversity in extensive productive systems. A multitemporal analysis of categorized images was applied, using GIS techniques. The analysis of soybean/sugarcane rotation showed that the subperiod with the highest rotation frequency was 2009-2011 followed by 2018-2020. The corn crop repeatability study showed a positive trend in both the planted area and the corn sowing repeatability, indicating a greater adoption of the soybean/corn rotation practice. The results allow inferring that there is a greater awareness in Tucuman s extensive crop production system of the need to rotate crops to add diversity and thus improve the balance of agro-ecosystems.
