GUZMAN, A.; CORONEL DE RENOLFI, M. y PECE, M. G.. Determination of failure in commercial planting of Prosopis alba. The forest nurseryof Santiago del Estero case. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.1, pp.46-53. ISSN 1851-3026.
This paper reports a survey on failures in a commercial planting nursery of Prosopis alba in Santiago del Estero, during the 2009-2010 productive cycle. The objective is to determine the failure rate of real working conditions on a non-experimental setting. Analyzed as possible factors influencing the mode of planting beds (traditional and field) and type of seed used (with and without pregerminative treatment). Three treatments with different repetitions were tried: 1) traditional bed with treated seeds; 2) traditional bed with untreated seeds; and 3) field bed with treated seeds. Systematic sampling on 62 plots of 1 m2 of surface allowed to measure the variable "number of failures" 50% of the total planted containers. The differences among treatments were evaluated using ANOVA by transforming data using the arc sin of the failure proportion. The results indicate a highly significant difference between treatments. The comparison of averages, showed different responses of germination in the nursery. According to the treatment, the average proportion of failures is between 27 and 55%. However, to attribute the results to certain factors is advisable to plan an experimental trial where they are present all possible situations, which is not the aim of the nursery at the time of data collection.
