At present it is necessary to generate information on urban green spaces, for the purpose of countering the increasing environmental and cultural degradation, as a basis to generate strategies to improve the quality of life and cultural identity recover. So what this paper is aimed to characterize the woody floristic composition of Libertad Square. Specimens were classified according to geographical origin in native, non-native and alien. It was conducted a census of all trees and shrubs, plant material was collected, specimens were identified to species level by literature search and use of botanical keys and was confirmed by consulting the respective scientific names digital databases. There were 440 specimens belonging to 39 woody plant species. The 44.3% and 55.7% are trees are shrubs. On the geographic origin 5% are native while 21.8% and 73.2% non-native alien, respectively. The data allow a better understanding of plant diversity of this green space. The use of native species is scarce. It is also expected that these results serve to further work in this area management.
