Resumen
GONZALEZ, D. P. et al. Estimate of stress growth in individuals selected by Eucalyptus camaldulensis extensometer e cracked index. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.2, pp.57-65. ISSN 1851-3026.
Eucalyptus camaldulensis in the ANW (North-West Argentina) plantations area may become an important alternative to solve the regional sawn lumber shortage; nonetheless there is scarce information on the defects produced by growth stress. In this context the aims of the study were to evaluate the stresses of growth by the extensometer and the cracking index, as well as to study the correlation between the different methods used. According to the results the measurements by the extensometer showed non-significant differences between the cardinal orientations; the maximal increase of cracks occurs 48 hours after felling. Only one side needs to be measured for its determination. It was also observed a highly significant positive relationship between the cracking index at 48 h post-felling and the measurements using the extensometer. This explains the 61% of the cracks occurred.
