Resumen

BARDI, J. et al. Breeding saplings of Salix humboldtiana Willd. (sauce criollo) for reintroduction into riparian sites of the center of Buenos Aires province. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2016, vol.24, n.1, pp.41-42. ISSN 0328-0543.

Salix humboldtiana Willd. is a native tree species with a large distribution range from the Argentinian northernmost provinces of Jujuy, Salta and Formosa to the Patagonia. Its presence in the basin of the Azul stream is practically null nowadays. As part of a research project aimed at the conservation and propagation of the species in environments associated to the water courses of the area, four different treatments to obtain one year old breeding saplings were evaluated. The material was obtained from a wild population established on the banks of the Sauce Grande river (38º18’49.83” S; 61º43’35.38” W), near Saldungaray, province of Buenos Aires. A factorial test with four replications was carried out. The treatments resulted from combining two basal diameters (larger and smaller than 1 cm) and two humectation stages (with and without humidity) of the stalks previous to the plantation. The variable response was the length of the terminal shoot at the end of the growing season. The ANOVA demonstrated the absence of interaction between the variables, and significant differences to the stalk diameter variable (p=0.0265). We concluded that stalks larger than 1 cm diameter are the most suitable to obtain these plants.
