The objective of the work was the application of software to perform simulation experiments based on the diametric distribution. The computer system serves as a support for the study and management of forests in the Chaco Semiarido Santiagueño. As a result the Forest Management Simulator (MOSIMAFO) computer system was obtained to predict the development of mensuration parameters that characterize a Chaco semiarid forest. A first prototype was implemented using the EVOLUTION tool developed by the Industrial University of Santander that allows simulations based on the principles of system dynamics. To build the system previously determined the dasometric parameters characterizing the forest and equations and mathematical expressions that enable project the dynamics of forests. In a second step the analysis and specification of requirements was made, identifying the needs, capabilities and features of the computer system to develop. The essential variables, their units and the set of equations that make up the mathematical model and entering the system is then defined. Different runs of the simulator and verification of the results was performed by analysis of changes in the diameter distribution, basal area and volume during the simulation.
