Abstract

CAREY, Alina  and  MENDEZ, Laura Marcela. Conflicting identities: The local and national issues in the commemorations of bariloche. 1910-1934. Rev. Pilquen [online]. 2010, n.12, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3123.

In the commemorative practices and celebrations it is possible to find not only joining and consensus but also tensions and conflicts: although it is the State as the incarnation of the political community the institution that promotes the commemorations, different social groups are involved in them: organizers, assistants, defenders and detractors. The aim of this work is to analyze celebrations and commemorations in San Carlos de Bariloche between 1900 and 1934 in relation to the identitary features and links between the mandates of the national-territorial State and the dynamic of the local community. Were there other celebrations in the local festive calendar besides the ones stemmed from the central power? Who were their heroes? Who were their tyrants?

Keywords : Commemoration; Identity; Memory; Celebrations; Patriotic liturgy.
