Abstract

RISSO, Julio Leandro. Travel narrative, Nation and alterity: The indigenous-other in Francisco P. Moreno's travel accounts (1872-1879). Rev. Pilquen [online]. 2010, n.13, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3123.

By considering the relevance of the travel narrative in the modern process of "narrating the Nation" and defining the national alterities, this article seeks to inquire how the other-indigenous subject is presented in Francisco P. Moreno's travel accounts. From this perspective, this essay is proposed as a way of re-thinking the dynamics, political effects and historical traces of the hegemonic alterities configuration during the formation of the argentine Nation-State. In this sense, the past is questioned as a reflexive exercise of interpellate us, our present, our truths, our silences and exclusions.

Keywords : Travel narrative; Nation; Indigenous alterity; Francisco P. Moreno.
