Abstract

VALENZUELA KLAGGES, Bárbara. Trade and institutional quality on economic growth of cono sur americano: issues and challenges. Rev. Pilquen [online]. 2011, n.14, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3123.

Several studies emphasise the importance of three sets of variables that can significantly affect a country's productivity and economic growth: its geographical location, international trade and institutional quality. The main objective of this paper is to identify the effect of international trade and institutional quality on economic growth in some South American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru) with their major trading partners over the period 1996-2004. For this purpose, this chapter has been divided into three parts.

Keywords : Corruption; Institutional quality; Economic growth; Trade.
