Abstract

DE ARCE, Alejandra. Women of Pergamino opinion about women's voting (Buenos Aires, 1946). Rev. Pilquen [online]. 2011, n.14, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3123.

This study tries to analyze and interpret the meanings related to the imminent incorporation of women in political spaces, attending particularly to those who live in rural towns. The theoretical perspective considers gender as a cultural construction and through its assumptions, this paper attempts to explain how meanings are configured and are linked to women's voting. At the same time, it identifies topics connected to this especial matter. A number of interviews that appeared in La Opinión, a daily newspaper of Pergamino (a town in North BuenosAires province) are raw material in the reconstruction of women's opinions about their role as citizens. Their voices are relevant when trying to explore different experiences and perceptions regarding their inclusion in national and local political life.

Keywords : Political Rights; Suffrage; Gender; Rural Towns; Press.
