Abstract

ACEVEDO, Mariela Hemilse. Criticism of the "ontology of the present" in Benjamin and Althusser. Rev. Pilquen [online]. 2011, n.14, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3123.

In this article we intend to reflect on the notion of historical time and, specifically, the notion of present, which appears in the work of Walter Benjamin and Louis Althusser, who spotted the need to challenge the dominant notion of history and develop a materialist notion of historical time. We will investigate the criticism of the ontology of present that take place both authors and the potential of the concept of history and present that they develop to think about political action.

Keywords : Historical Materialism; Present; Politics; Walter Benjamin; Louis Althusser.
