Abstract

SANCHEZ, María Teresa. To name, to name onself: Modalities of essay in Augusto Monterroso. Rev. Pilquen [online]. 2011, n.14, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3123.

In Augusto Monterroso´s essays, although we can read his particular irony and certain endings of his narrative mastery of brevities, the autofictionalization is the most relevant aspect. This mechanism gives us a closer individual to the own essay's modalities, through which the author legitimizes himself since the frequent use of the first person singular. Starting from this strategy, universes of the intellectual field are evoked that introduce other names through which he resemantizes the Latin American literary tradition and, especially, Centre American one. This work analyses the autofictionalization as a way of redefining a field and defining itself in a sequence.

Keywords : Tradition; Autofictionalization; Autobuilding of authorship; Essay writer.
