Resumen

FERREYRA, Ana Inés. Patrimony, production and work in the campaign of córdoba, 1800-1860. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-3123.

This article analyzes the practices of production, work and social reproduction in Córdoba countryside along six decades, characterized by important changes and transformations. We worked diverse production units, from large rural properties, called estancias, to smaller units, operated by small farmers, owners, tenants or aggregates. In this period coexisted different forms of work -like family labor, slave and salaried- and production, mostly mixed, livestock farming and agriculture -grains, fodder and fruit- for the domestic consumption or for different markets. In many cases, this diversity served to confront the consequences of the political instability, as the increased cost of production and marketing, compounded by the long distances that separated the producer for the markets and the elemental technology in the production. In this situation, the large landowners tried to reduce the cost of productionthrough slave labor or special forms of work, in most cases without compensation, product of a relation of dependence, as the case of aggregates, who returned with personal work the permission to them to live in large farms with their families and property.
