Abstract

LAZZARO, Ana Inés. Natural bodies: The construction of nature and its tension in the Humanization of Chilbirt. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.20, n.3, pp.82-94. ISSN 1851-3123.

This article proposes a reflection on the idea of nature in the naturalistic / alternative tendency of the Humanized Childbirth movement. From the discourse analysis of secondary sources - and contributing with some own field records - we will analyze some presuppositions that underlie the idea of natural within this line. In this way, and taking as an axis of analysis the natural-artificial dichotomy, we propose to stress the naturalistic foundations of this slope with positions that rethink and claim the place of technique in the construction of humanity, highlighting their implications from a theoretical but also a political point of view.

Keywords : Humanization of childbirth; Naturalism; Body; Techno-scientific medicine; Childbirth rights.
