Abstract

NOGUEIRA, María Elena. The State and the pandemic: Considerations on the problematization of the media in the Argentinean case. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2020, vol.23, n.3, pp.124-134. ISSN 1851-3123.

The State is a dynamic concept as it concurrently comprises a complex institution and a set of societal relations. This modern institutional complex has been the centerpiece of many Latin American countries' socio-political constructions. Argentina is one such case. The State is no-longer an exception today; it is at the center of the scene. In this context, it is interesting to ponder how the State appears within the framework of the pandemic's narrative. To this end, the present study suggests the construction of an information database based on an intentional sample of articles, specially editorials and opinion pieces, and their subsequent analysis of the ways in which the State is being problematized in the different discourses. It is argued that the constant discussion about state intervention is being revisited in the current context and the presence of the "virus" allows it to permeate it in a renewed way.
