Abstract

LAMBRUSCHINI, Patricia. Max Weber: the good life in disenchanted modernity. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2020, vol.23, n.4, pp.105-116. ISSN 1851-3123.

The article attempts to outline what could be understood as the Weberian conception of the good life in the context of disenchanted modernity. To do this, the unintended consequences of the rationalization process in the modern West are first outlined. Then the central aspects of his ideal of a free and rational ethical life are presented, contrasting it with a heteronomous and irrational way of conducting existence. Finally, an attempt is made to specify the place of the tragic in this conception.

Keywords : Max Weber; Good life; Ethics; Modernity.
