Abstract

VOMMARO, Pablo et al. Public policies and generational perspective: reflections in and from Latin America and the Caribbean. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.24, n.5, pp.47-60. ISSN 1851-3123.

This article aims to make a critical reflection on the socio-state production of public policies for children and youth in recent decades in Latin America and the Caribbean. The proposal provides a theoretical reflection, in which the critical review of the specialized literature on the subject prevails, and the use of our main contributions as a methodological basis. Among the main contributions we propose, we point out the main socio-historical paths that public policies for children and youth have taken in the region, while incorporating conceptualizations around the approaches and paradigms of construction of such policies in articulation with perspectives that integrate notions such as the generational perspective, the sociology of ages and the age dimension of the Welfare States, as views on public policies that, we believe, make it possible to advance in the construction and implementation of programs and actions of a transversal and integral nature.

Keywords : Youth; Childhoods; Public Policies; Generations.
